Jackson Motorcycle Accident Results in Prison Sentence
A Jackson man was sentenced to up to five years in prison for driving drunk and causing a serious motorcycle accident last April. The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports that Edwin “Bud” Pagel will go to prison for driving with his blood alcohol level well over the legal limit and causing serous injuries to motorcyclist John Washburn and his passenger, Amber Boggs. Mr. Pagel has a lengthy history of drunken driving charges.
The motorcycle accident victims have the legal right to file a personal injury lawsuit against Mr. Pagel. If he had insurance, they would most likely receive the maximum amount of his policy. If he did not have insurance, they might still be able to make an uninsured motorists benefit claim. Also, both victims may be entitled to make claims for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits to cover medical expenses, lost wages, and other benefits.
